Why Help?

In 2024, the U.S. alone had approximately 5.8 million felines and canines enter animal shelters, and about 4.1 million felines and canines were adopted.

Also in 2024, approximately 607,000 U.S. shelter animals were euthanized.

Many enter shelters as lost or stray animals, or due to abandonment by their owners. There are many pet owners who are not able to afford basic care for their pets, and according to Humane World for Animals, about 20 million pets in the U.S. live in poverty, and about 70% of them have never seen a Veterinarian.

Many pet owners make the decision to surrender their pets to animal shelters, and some reasons for doing so include financial hardships, housing issues, or simply having too many pets. This creates an ongoing capacity crisis for shelters.

Joyau contributes by helping lift weight off some of these animal shelters, and assisting families to a degree where they are able to provide the proper care for their pets.
